About the Artwork +
For these paintings, the pricing includes the teak wood frame.
The oleograph by G.V. Venkatesh Rao representing Lord Venu Gopal in the company of Gopies creates a mesmerizing depiction of divine beauty set against a lush landscape. Lord Venu Gopal is a manifestation of Lord Krishna and carries profound symbolic significance in Hindu Mythology. He is often depicted holding a flute, which symbolizes divine love, compassion, and harmony. The lush landscape and the surrounding cows or peacock represent the abundance and fertility of nature, reflecting the divine presence in all living beings.
Rao's mastery of color and its execution is evident in this oleograph, as he skillfully depicts the elegant beauty of Lord Venu Gopal. The vibrant hues of the landscape contrast with the serene presence of the deity, creating a harmonious balance between the natural world and the divine realm. The intricate Japanese silk attire, jewellery, and real gold and silver Zari work enhance their ornate beauty and add a three-dimensional effect to the oleograph. The meticulous attention to detail, from the delicate features of Lord Venu Gopal to the intricate patterns of foliage, imbues the composition with a sense of picturesque intensity.
This is a limited edition capsule collection of original oleographs/ chromo lithographs from the 1920's and 1930's created at the original Raja Ravi Verma Printing Press. This collection of paintings was originally made by Raja Ravi Verma and artists like CS Ramanujam. The oleographs are embellished with original delicate Japanese paper silk and Zari work in real gold and silver which was done by artists in the same period. These oleopgraphs were created in limited numbers and thus each artwork is limited to only 1 in availability with us. Varma used oleographs on paper, a type of lithography that uses oil paints on paper to make his work available to the masses. He eventually sold the press to one of the Germans. The stone-printing procedure allows exact brushstrokes and patterns to be replicated on a large scale with multitudes of tones and diverse colour palette. The artist signature is on each of the artworks and each artwork will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from MeMeraki.
