About the Artwork +
For these paintings, the pricing includes the teak wood frame.
Raja Ravi Varma's iconic oleograph featuring Lord Ganesha with his consorts Riddhi and Siddhi captures the essence of Hindu mythology with unmatched beauty and grace. Lord Ganesha is shown in a regal posture, seated on a grand throne, adorned with ornate jewelry and garments that gleam with opulence. Riddhi and Siddhi, the divine consorts of Lord Ganesha, stand gracefully on either side of him. The background is plain, drawing attention to the main subject. This masterpiece highlights the artist's exceptional ability to depict divine subjects with intricate detail and emotional depth. Lord Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles and the bringer of success and prosperity, is portrayed in his divine form, symbolizing wisdom, intellect, and auspicious beginnings. Riddhi signifies prosperity and abundance, while Siddhi represents spiritual attainment and fulfillment. Together, they embody the blessings bestowed upon devotees by the benevolent Lord Ganesha.
This is a limited edition collection of original oleographs/chromo lithographs from the 1920s and 1930s, created at the original Raja Ravi Varma Printing Press. This collection includes works originally made by Raja Ravi Varma and artists like CS Ramanujam. The oleographs are adorned with original delicate Japanese paper silk and Zari work in real gold and silver, crafted by artists of the same period. Each oleograph was produced in limited quantities, making each artwork uniquely available to us. Varma used oleographs on paper, a form of lithography that employs oil paints on paper to make his work accessible to the masses. He eventually sold the press to a German. The stone-printing technique allows for precise replication of brushstrokes and patterns on a large scale, using a wide range of tones and colors. This artwork bears the artist's signature and comes with a certificate of authenticity from MeMeraki.
