“There you'll find the place I love most in the world. My village, rising from the plain. Shaded with trees and leaves like a piggy bank filled with memories. You'll see why a person would want to live there forever. The air changes the color of things there. And life whirs by as quiet as a murmur...the pure murmuring of life.”
― Juan Rulfo, Pedro Páramo
The paintings of Madhubani are legendary narratives to which the folk turn to pray in daily ritual as part of marriage ceremonies or at religious occasions. Madhubani painting evolved from a traditional practice of wall art to contemporary iterations on canvas and fabric. This range of co-ordinated masks with stoles is a limited edition capsule collection 'Jiyo for MeMeraki' , handpainted by artist Narmada and created by Jiyo's Madhubani painting cluster Shilp Sangha, a cooperative located in Ranti village in the Mithila district of Bihar.
