About the Artwork +
This traditional Pichwai painting by the master artist Shehzad Ali Sherani represents an idol of Shrinath ji, revered by his devotees on the occasion of Sharad Poornima. At the heart of the composition stands Shrinathji adorned in resplendent attire with Mayur Pankh and Kadam tree, typical of the deity. He is flanked on either side by beautiful Gopies, dancing to the rhythm of cosmic melodies of Krishna's flute. The subject is set against the backdrop of a verdant green forest, illuminated by the full moonlight and casting an enchanting glow upon the scene below. The rows of celestial deities from the heavens are showering fragrant flowers on the act.
In the middle plain of the composition, the Annakoot festival comes to life, with devotes offering a myriad of delicacies to the lord of the temple. The vibrant scene of Daan Leela is intertwined seamlessly with the scene of Annakoot in this timeless narrative of Pichwai painting. The charisma of this celebration unfolds a spectacle where peacocks can be seen dancing in jubilation. The lower plain represents rows of cows and lotus, adding to the splendor of Krishna Leela and evoking a sense of reverence and awe. Within thin floral borders lie several square boxes inhibiting scenes from Krishna Leela, each giving a glimpse into his divine quests. Overall, this composition is an ode to the timeless art of Pichwai that celebrates love and devotion in its purest form.
