About the Artwork +
Ambika Devi paints this captivating Madhubani painting featuring a vertical alignment of three circles. Each circle told a story, unveiling a rich tapestry of aquatic life and sacred symbols. At the top of the painting, the first circle came alive with a pair of fishes. Their vibrant colors danced upon their scales, evoking a sense of movement and life. The fishes, painted with intricate patterns, seemed to swim in perfect unison, their forms mirroring one another. They symbolized the balance and harmony that exists in nature, as well as the concept of duality and interconnectedness. In the center circle, a fish and a lotus shared the spotlight. The fish, with its grace and fluidity, embodied the spirit of water and the depths of the ocean. It swam alongside the delicate lotus, a symbol of purity and enlightenment. The lotus flower emerged from the water, its petals unfurling in a gentle embrace of the fish. Together, they represented the harmony between the earthly and the divine, bridging the realms of water and spirituality. In the final circle, another pair of fishes took center stage. They mirrored the vibrancy and intricate patterns of their counterparts in the first circle, adding a sense of continuity and balance to the composition. The repetition of the fish motif emphasized the interconnectedness of all things, reflecting the eternal cycles of nature and the ever-flowing currents of life.
