About the Artwork +
Embark on a divine journey through Sanjay Tandekar's Tanjore paintings, where the Deshavatharam unfolds, revealing the profound tapestry of Hindu mythology. In each stroke, Lord Vishnu's ten avatars grace the canvas, transcending epochs to convey a timeless truth – God's omnipresence. As you gaze upon these masterpieces, immerse yourself in the cosmic dance of creation, preservation, and dissolution. Tandekar's art not only captures the essence of each avatar across the yugas but also echoes a universal message – the divine is omnipresent, weaving through the fabric of every moment and every corner of existence. Embrace the spiritual resonance of Deshavatharam. Tanjore Painting is a classical South Indian art form that originated in Thanjavur, also known as Tanjore in Tamil Nadu, in the late 16th century. With their alluring depictions of Puranic scenes, these Tanjore paintings evoke a sense of class and timeless beauty. This ancient art form originated in Tanjavur, the former capital of the Chola Empire. Tanjore Art Derives From Murals from the Vijayanagara Period (1500-1600 AD), During which time it acquired its robust forms, architectural details, and vibrant colors.
