About the Artwork +
In Manoj Tekam's traditional black and white Gond painting, the tender scene of a duck and her ducklings hatching from eggs unfolds with intricate beauty. Each stroke of Tekam's brush captures the essence of nature's nurturing cycle, emphasizing the interconnectedness between mother and offspring. Gond art, deeply rooted in the tribal traditions of central India, reveres nature as a source of life and sustenance. Through the depiction of the duck and her ducklings, Tekam celebrates this bond, showcasing the harmonious relationship between living beings and their environment.
The meticulous details in Tekam's painting showcase his reverence for the natural world. Every line and pattern symbolizes the interconnectedness of life, with the duck and her ducklings serving as a poignant reminder of the cycle of birth, growth, and renewal. Gond art originated as a form of storytelling and cultural expression among the Gondi tribe, with artists using natural materials to create intricate designs on walls and floors. Over time, Gond art has evolved into a celebrated art form, with artists like Manoj Tekam infusing contemporary themes while staying true to its traditional roots. Through their art, Gond artists continue to honor nature's beauty and the sacred bond between all living beings.
