About the Artwork +
In Vidya Soni's Mandana art, the fish symbolizes not only fertility and abundance but also the rapid multiplication associated with prosperity and growth. Soni's depiction embodies the belief that incorporating fish motifs invites good luck and fortune, infusing homes with positive energy and auspiciousness. Each stroke of her brush carries the weight of tradition and cultural significance, weaving together layers of meaning that transcend mere decoration. Soni's work not only adorns walls but also enriches lives, fostering a sense of harmony and abundance within the household. Through her art, Soni celebrates the timeless symbols that connect us to our roots and aspirations.
Mandana art is a traditional form of painting that originated in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is primarily practiced by women, who adorn the walls and floors of their homes with intricate and vibrant designs on auspicious occasions and festivals. Mandana art typically features geometric patterns, floral motifs, and religious symbols, all created using simple materials such as rice flour, chalk, and natural pigments. The designs are often passed down through generations and hold deep cultural and spiritual significance. Mandalas, or circular patterns, are commonly found in Mandana art, symbolizing wholeness, unity, and the cyclical nature of life. This art form not only beautifies homes but also serves as a form of expression and celebration within the community.
