About the Artwork +
Dilip Chitara's Mata ni Pachedi masterpiece places the divine presence of Meldi Mata at the forefront, offering a grand and intricately detailed portrayal. The canvas bursts with a kaleidoscope of colors, presenting Meldi Mata adorned in traditional garments and encircled by symbolic elements that convey her profound sacred significance. Chitara's artistic prowess shines through in the meticulous depiction of every facet, from the goddess's expressive eyes to the intricate details of her divine attire, orchestrating a visual symphony that echoes with spiritual reverence.
The process of creating a Mata ni Pachedi, deeply rooted in Gujarat's cultural tapestry, stands as a testament to Chitara's unwavering commitment to this traditional art form. The journey commences with the meticulous preparation of the canvas using a cotton fabric treated with a distinctive mixture of goat milk and gum, imparting a unique texture. The intricate design, featuring Meldi Mata, is then meticulously hand-drawn using wooden blocks, with natural dyes sourced from plants and minerals thoughtfully applied. Employing the 'pachad' technique, Chitara folds the canvas, allowing colors to blend and merge, producing a mirrored effect that enriches the visual depth of the painting. Dilip Chitara's Mata ni Pachedi not only captures the goddess's divine aura but also pays homage to the enduring techniques and cultural significance deeply embedded in this revered art form.
