About the Artwork +
This stunning Mata ni Pachedi painting by artist Sanjay Chitara showcases the traditional Gujarati art form that celebrates divine mother goddesses. The artwork is meticulously crafted using the traditional colors of red and black, creating a powerful and sacred visual narrative. The composition features five mother goddesses, each riding a distinct animal (Vahana), symbolizing their unique powers and attributes. The artwork is symmetrically composed, with the central circle containing Durga Mata, surrounded by four additional circles featuring the other goddesses. The thin registers connecting the goddesses portray the array of celestial beings in intricate detail.
At the center of the composition, Durga Mata is depicted with multiple arms, each holding sacred weapons and riding a fierce tiger. Simultaneously, the portrayal of Ambe Mata on bull, Sagat Mata on cock, Bahuchar Mata riding a goat in addition to Meldi Mata create a divine assembly that resonates with the strength of the goddesses. The five mother goddesses represent different aspects of the divine feminine power, such as strength, fertility, vigilance, purity, and protection. The painting also includes Lord Ganesha, the remover of the obstacles, and the Sun, symbolizing life and energy, collectively creating an atmosphere of divine strength and blessings.
