About the Artwork +
Vasant Manubhai Chitara in his Mata Ni Pachedi art masterfully captures the depiction of Visaat Mata in traditional Mata ni Pachedi artwork with hues of orange and off-white. Visaat Mata is a local goddess particularly venerated in Gujarat, India. Her name, "Visaat," is derived from the Gujarati word "visat," which means "to cross over" or "to travel." The use of orange hues in the artwork symbolizes energy, enthusiasm, and dynamism, representing the dynamism and vibrancy of travelers, who seek her blessings for safe and successful journeys. The off-white color symbolizes purity, tranquility, and spirituality, creating a sense of sacredness and purity in the depiction of the goddess. The artwork signifies the protective role of Visaat Mata in the lives of travelers. Her presence underlines the belief that she watches over those who embark on journeys, ensuring their safe passage and protection from harm.
