About the Artwork +
In Sanjay Chitara's Mata ni Pachedi painting, a powerful scene unfolds as the goddess Visat Mata, depicted in her fierce form, defeats the demon Mahishasura. The canvas is alive with vibrant colors, intricate details, and a compelling narrative. Visat Mata, with determination in her eyes, strikes down Mahishasura, and as a result, blood spills onto the ground.
Indra, the king of gods, becomes curious about the origin of the blood and, through divine insight, discovers that it turns into a river at a particular spot. In response, an Indra Pari transforms into a bird, carrying a small container to collect the blood. As the bird attempts to intercept the falling blood, a drop lands on its beak, causing a transformation. The bird, now stained with blood, decides to perch on the sacred hill of Pavagadh, assuming the formidable form of Kali Mata.
Sanjay Chitara's expert portrayal captures the intensity of the mythological tale, blending rich symbolism and cultural elements. The painting becomes a visual storytelling experience, inviting viewers to delve into the intricate details of this divine narrative.
