About the Artwork +

In Hasir Chitrakar's Santhal Pattachitra masterpiece, a captivating fusion of elements emerges as fishes and musical instruments intertwine within a palanquin inspired by Santhal Pattachitra. Each detail of the painting is meticulously crafted, with the fishes and instruments coming to life with vibrant colors and intricate patterns. The scene is rich in symbolism and cultural significance, blending the traditional motifs of Bengal Pattachitra with the unique style of Santhal Pattachitra. Chitrakar's skillful strokes capture the dynamic movement and fluidity of the composition, showcasing his mastery of both artistic traditions. The Bengal Pattachitra painting process, deeply rooted in heritage, reflects Chitrakar's commitment to preserving this ancient craft. Beginning with a meticulously prepared canvas layered with cloth and a mixture of chalk and gum, Chitrakar employs natural pigments sourced from minerals, plants, and flowers to infuse the scene with vibrant colors. Using fine brushes crafted from animal hair, he delicately applies the colors, layering them to create depth and texture. The result is a captivating work of art that not only celebrates Bengal's rich artistic heritage but also pays homage to the cultural diversity and creativity of the region through Chitrakar's innovative interpretation of the Bengal Pattachitra technique.
