This panel brings together six works in Sohrai style by Rukmani Devi, rendered here in a finer, monochrome pencil-and-ink register rather than the bolder painted palette typical of the tradition, dense floral sprays, a peacock motif, and a diamond-latticed mandala all built from intricate, almost embroidered linework.
While Sohrai is traditionally a mural art painted in bold natural pigments on mud walls, artists like Rukmani Devi have adapted the same motif vocabulary, flowering vines, birds, and radiating geometric patterns, into finer works on paper, using dense cross-hatching and stippling to achieve texture where color would otherwise carry it. The underlying symbolism remains the same: fertility, growth, and the abundance of the harvest that gives the tradition its name.
Seen together, this panel shows Sohrai's range beyond the wall, the same motifs that fill a village home reappearing here in a quieter, more graphic register, proof that the tradition's visual language survives the shift from mud and ochre to pencil and paper.

No, we currently sell artworks unframed (unless explicitly mentioned otherwise) and do not provide framing services.

Returns and Replacements
We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.
Delivery Timeline
This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 3 weeks to be made and shipped.
Once your order is placed, our team stays in constant communication with the artist to track the progress and ensure the quality of your order. You will receive regular updates from us throughout this process.
