Tanjore Painting is a classical South Indian art form that originated in Thanjavur, also known as Tanjore in Tamil Nadu, in the late 16th century. With their alluring depictions of Puranic scenes, these Tanjore paintings evoke a sense of class and timeless beauty. This ancient art form originated in Tanjavur, the former capital of the Chola Empire. Tanjore Art Derives From Murals from the Vijayanagara Period (1500-1600 AD), During which time it acquired its robust forms, architectural details, and vibrant colors.
