About the Artwork +

Madhubani artist, Vibhuti Nath in his artwork portrays railroad travel under a tree, showcasing a pond having lotus and fishes, and houses. The train journey symbolizes progress, change, and movement. In Madhubani art, trains often represent the idea of transition and development, as they signify the modern world encroaching upon traditional life. The scene is seen as a representation of the tension between tradition and modernity, with the train journey signifying progress and change, while the natural elements like the tree, pond, and lotus symbolize the enduring significance of nature and tradition in the face of development. The houses represent the idea that one can retain their cultural and familial roots even as they embrace change and modernization. Such a train journey allows passengers to connect with nature in a unique and immersive way. It provides an opportunity to witness the beauty and diversity of a natural ecosystem, which is often not easily accessible in urban settings.
