About the Artwork +
This vibrant Madhubani painting by Krishna Kant Jha, beautifully illustrates the traditional Kohbar theme, a symbol of fertility and marital bliss in Indian culture. At the center of the painting, a large, intricate circular motif represents the lotus, a sacred symbol of creation and purity, surrounded by symmetrical patterns that radiate outward, enhancing the visual appeal and spiritual significance. The detailed geometric designs and concentric circles are filled with elaborate patterns in red, black, green, and yellow, capturing the essence of the Madhubani art style.
To the left, the painting features auspicious symbols, including fish, parrots, and other elements that signify prosperity and good fortune. The right side of the composition displays more traditional motifs, such as a smiling sun, a sacred elephant adorned with floral designs, and additional fish, emphasizing abundance and harmony. Each element is meticulously detailed, with fine lines and vibrant colors that create a harmonious balance across the canvas. The border is adorned with repetitive, intricate patterns, framing the entire artwork and drawing the viewer’s eye inward. This painting is a testament to the rich cultural heritage and artistic excellence of Madhubani art, celebrating life, fertility, and the sacred union of marriage.
