About the Artwork +

In Gareeba Singh Tekam's mesmerizing Gond painting, the Tree of Life stands as a symbol of vitality and interconnectedness, its branches adorned with vibrant colors and intricate patterns that breathe life into the canvas. Beneath the tree, a multitude of deers roam freely, their graceful forms blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Gond art, deeply rooted in the tribal heritage of central India, celebrates the profound connection between humans and nature, with each element in Tekam's painting reflecting the symbiotic relationship between all living beings. The significance of nature in Gond artform is profound, as it serves as a source of inspiration and spiritual nourishment for the artists, highlighting the intrinsic interconnectedness of all living things.
Tekam's meticulous attention to detail is evident in every stroke of the brush, with each deer meticulously adorned with intricate patterns and motifs. The vivid colors and dynamic compositions not only captivate the viewer's attention but also convey a sense of harmony and balance inherent in nature. This interpretation of the Tree of Life is particularly striking, offering a fresh perspective on traditional Gond art with its vivid colors and dynamic compositions. Gond art originated as a form of ritualistic expression among the indigenous Gondi tribe of central India, with artists using natural materials like charcoal and plant-based pigments to create intricate designs on the walls of their homes and other surfaces.
