About the Artwork +
This striking portrayal of Vishat Mata, derived from the Gujarati term 'vis-hath' meaning twenty hands, presents the goddess in all her formidable glory. While she is often associated with numerous arms, this depiction showcases her in a powerful form, wielding a combination of six arms, each radiating strength and protection. Her mount, a black buffalo, stands as a symbol of her unwavering might and resilience. Emphasizing her fearsome presence, the goddess wields swords, a dagger, a bowl of blood, and a trident, alluding to her role as a fierce protector and vanquisher of evil. The inclusion of these elements highlights her commitment to upholding justice and maintaining cosmic equilibrium, serving as a beacon of hope for her devotees. Intriguingly tied to the origin legend of the Vaghris, who consider themselves descendants of Lord Vishnu and the goddess, Vishat Mata embodies the legacy of divine lineage and guardianship. The addition of a snake in her hair further accentuates her fierce nature, underscoring her readiness to confront any challenge that threatens the cosmic order. This artwork serves as a testament to Vishat Mata's unwavering dedication to the protection of her worshippers, reflecting her role as a divine sentinel and nurturer. Through her portrayal, the painting encapsulates the essence of her divine presence, emphasizing her boundless strength and resolute commitment to preserving righteousness and upholding the sacred balance of the universe.
