The artwork depicting Kathputli dolls by a local artisan showcases the vibrant and intricate craft of traditional Rajasthani puppetry. The dolls represent a male and a female figure, both dressed in the quintessentially colorful and elaborate attire of Rajasthan. The male doll is adorned with a turban, a long kurta, and a dhoti, with a beautiful Bandhej print. His mustache and expressive eyes are painted with precision, reflecting the characteristic features of Rajasthani men. The female doll wears a flowing lehenga-choli, accompanied by a dupatta draped gracefully over her head. Her attire is equally ornate, featuring a similar red color with ornamentation. Her facial features are delicately painted, with almond-shaped eyes and a bindi on her forehead, giving her a traditional and graceful appearance.

Attached to these dolls are strings or threads, which are used to control their movements during performances. These threads, skillfully manipulated by the puppeteer, bring the dolls to life, enabling them to dance, gesture, and convey stories with remarkable fluidity and expressiveness. This art form has been a part of Rajasthani culture for centuries, serving as a means of storytelling and entertainment. The stories often revolve around local legends, folklore, and historical events, with the puppets acting out various roles in these narratives.

Ready To Ship/ In Stock artworks are shipped in under 2 weeks. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/ In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery.

Made To Order artworks will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped once they are ready. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.
