About the Artwork +

Faiza is a force of nature— she embodies the wind that flows in the direction of wilful forethought. Faiza moves her fingers in wedges to detect any strange mass on her breasts. From the foliage surrounding her to the hem of her saree, this intentional exercise in self-care encourages everything around her to envelope her in a warm embrace.

These are stories of real breast cancer survivors. Your purchase will help provide financial assistance for the treatment of underprivileged cancer patients. 100% of the proceeds will go to The Apollo Cancer Foundation (ACF). Read Faiza's complete story here.

Note: All of these artworks are available with frames and the quoted price is inclusive of the frame.

Faiza

The Seeker of Truth

Relentless, like a river raging through a rocky gorge.

Unstoppable, like an erupting volcano.

The seeker of truth and justice.

Never wavering, never yielding.

She isn’t just a journalist,

But the nation’s icon of truth.

She has broken story after story,

Unearthing stories of exploitation,

Bringing the powerful to their knees.

She never buckled before money or power,

Never gave in to threats or intimidation.

She went to great lengths in the search for truth,

However obscure or scary it seemed.

That’s how she exposed her body’s secret too.

It started as a rash on her right breast,

She knew the truth behind it was scary.

Yet, she decided to go in search of it.

She stood in front of the mirror,

And found a red patch.

It radiated outwards from the nipple.

She glided her fingers over her breast.

She found a few lumps around the armpit.

The truth snarled at her from the mirror.

It threatened to shake her world to the core.

She took a deep breath and stared back,

And felt the thrill of chasing the truth again.

She was determined to bring cancer to its knees.

A few months have passed.

An auditorium packed with an energetic crowd.

They clapped as Faiza walked to the stage.

She would soon be the youngest person to receive,

The highest journalism award in the country.

With firm steps, she approaches the podium.

To make that address that the crowd waited for.

“I dedicate this award to truth,” she starts.

“My quest for truth has saved my life,” she adds.

"Step 5 – Check for lumps, swelling, and thickening in the breast by moving your fingers in wedges. "

More Kerala Mural Paintings

Kerala Mural

Kerala Mural Painting is an ancient art form indigenous to the southern state of Kerala, India, known for its intricate depictions of mythological and religious themes. These murals, often found on the walls of temples, churches, and palaces, are admired for their vibrant colors, rich symbolism, and fine detailing. The style of Kerala mural painting is distinct, characterized by bold outlines, flat color palettes, and intricate detailing. The figures are often depicted with graceful postures, expressive eyes, and ornate jewelry, adding a sense of grandeur. The use of rich, vibrant colors like ochre, red, green, blue, and white enhances the visual appeal, creating a striking contrast between the figures and the background. History and Tradition Dating back to the 8th century AD, Kerala mural paintings evolved from temple art traditions. The classical period of this art form thrived during the 15th and 16th centuries under the patronage of the royal families and temple authorities. Over time, these paintings became deeply intertwined with the cultural and spiritual life of Kerala, serving as visual narratives of Hindu mythology and local legends. Kerala murals can be seen in places like Thirunadhikkara cave, Vaikom temple, Padmanabhaswamy temple etc. Kerala murals primarily depict scenes from Hindu epics like the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and Puranic texts. Common themes include stories of gods and goddesses such as Vishnu, Shiva, Krishna, and scenes of divine love, valor, and morality. These murals convey both spiritual and philosophical messages, making them integral to temple aesthetics and devotion. Material and method  Kerala mural art is characterized by meticulous attention to detail, vibrant colors, and beautiful compositions. At first, artists prepare the wall with layers of lime and sand mixture. Natural pigments derived from minerals, plants, and metals, are used to draw outlines and later fill the colors, using brushes made from natural fibers. Artists skillfully incorporate architectural features such as pillars, arches, and doorways into their compositions, creating a sense of depth and dimensionality. The paintings are often adorned with decorative motifs and geometric patterns, adding to their visual appeal. V.M. Jijulal and Adarsh are some of the notable artists practicing this ancient art.  FAQs What are Kerala mural paintings?
