About
Neeraj Bondwal recognises and values the tradition he holds after coming from a family of carvers. The Bondwal family holds five National awards and a Shilp-Guru (Rajendra Bondwal) honour. For centuries, his grandfather, father, and uncles had worked on ivory. Because of the change in time, they had to switch to Sandalwood, then to Kadam and Abnoos wood. Elephant shape undercut made inside another elephant, both in marble and in wood was first made by Neeraj Bondwal’s father Mahavir Bondwal Ji, for which he received the national award too. Neeraj Ji carries on his legacy and has worked upon mastering his own style.
