Celebrating the divine legacy of Pichwai painting tradition by State Award winning Master Artist Shehzaad Ali Sherani at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi
‘Shringar: The Divine Art of Pichwai’ from the 12th to the 21st of January, featuring over 30 works of Master Artist Shehzaad Ali Sherani for the first time at Triveni Kala Sangam. As a custodian of the heritage of Pichwai, the generational artist has devoted decades to perfecting and promoting the art form. The themes of this exhibition revolve around the Leelas of Shrinathji, along with his individualistic depiction and other symbolic elements of Pichwai.
The exhibition displays Pichwai in both traditional and modern style, prepared using natural colours and real gold and silver leaves, along with a unique amalgamation of traditional Indian art forms. It also displays a few masterpieces by the Master Artist in the Kishangarh School. The state of Rajasthan is replete with unique art forms, belonging to both temple and court style. While Pichwai originated as a temple art form in the 17th century, Kishangarh originated in the 18th century. Both the styles offer a spiritual depiction of Krishna, portraying scenes from his life, such as the Raas Leela, Govardhan Dharan, and nature.
The exhibition features unique artworks along with workshops to provide hands-on experience to the visitors.

Shehzaad Ali Sherani's artistic journey has been greatly influenced by the expert guidance of Padmashri Kripal Singh Shekhawat, under whom he learned and honed his craft. What makes his artistic journey even more remarkable is the involvement of his young son, Faizan, who collaborates closely with him to extend the reach of their art to a global audience.
Shehzaad ji, affectionately known as 'Bhaiyyaji' (Elder Brother), is a true stalwart in the world of art. At the age of 75, his unwavering commitment to his craft is evident in his daily routine. He begins his day at 5 AM and paints with dedication until 7 PM. His devotion to perfecting his art can be seen in every stroke of the paintbrush, every pot of color, and every exquisite painting he creates.
