About the Artwork +

Anjali Vakil portrays captivating artwork that intricately weaves together artistry and storytelling. This artwork draws its inspiration from Keshav Das's poetic anthology "Rasikapriya," which is a fabulous epic of love, longing, jealousy, and bitter regret. The central character, the woman, is portrayed with great depth and emotion. Her distress at being separated from her beloved is palpable in her demeanor. Her downcast eyes mirror her inner turmoil, while the slope of her shoulders conveys the weight of her heartache. The artist has expertly captured the subtle nuances of her emotions, making her a poignant and relatable figure to the viewer. The woman, or friend, is depicted tending to her. The friend's presence signifies the importance of female companionship and support during times of emotional distress. She cares for Proshitabhartrika's legs, symbolising not only physical support but also the emotional and moral support that friends offer in times of need. This artwork serves as a timeless reminder of the power of art to convey profound human emotions and stories through the intricate medium of Chamba Rumal artistry.
