Sonali Chitrakar portrays one of the many mischievous acts of Lord Krishna, who stole the hearts of many people with his charm and playful antics during his childhood. In this mesmerising artwork,Lord Krishna stands on a small stool in flowing attire, adding an ethereal touch to his divine presence. With a mischievous smile on his face, Krishna raises a pot filled with delicious butter above his head. His mother, Yashoda, depicted with immense love and concern, tries to catch Krishna in the act of stealing butter. Her outstretched arms, graceful yet determined, convey her motherly instincts as she reaches towards Krishna. The background of the painting features a rustic setting, reminiscent of the rural landscapes of Brindavan, Krishna's childhood home. The skilled brushwork, with its characteristic bold lines and flat forms, adds a distinct liveliness to the figures.     All artworks are packed and couriered securely in a tube.

    Ready To Ship/ In Stock artworks are shipped in under 2 weeks. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/ In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.

    Made To Order artworks will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped once they are ready. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.

    Kalighat painting is a traditional art form that flourished in the vicinity of the Kalighat Kali Temple in Kolkata, India, during the 19th century. It is characterized by its bold lines, vibrant colors, minimal background details, and distinctive style. Jamini Roy was one of the artists greatly influenced by this style. Moreover, the themes of the Kalighat painting range from religious stories to social satires. Goddess Kali, Babu & Bibi, and Cat with the Fish are some of the well-known illustrations in this craft. History and Legend Kalighat painting began as a form of devotional art inspired by the pilgrimage to the Kalighat Temple. Pilgrims sought souvenirs to reminisce about their visits, leading to the creation of budget-friendly, portable artworks. Over time, these paintings evolved into a distinct style, reflecting the cultural and religious ethos of the region. Methods and Techniques Kalighat paintings are known for their simplicity and spontaneity, created using natural pigments on paper or cloth.
