About the Artwork +
Harinath's artistic expertise shines through in this captivating Kalamkari painting of Kaamdhenu Devi, the revered mother of all cows in Hindu mythology. According to the ancient tales, Kaamdhenu was brought into existence by Lord Brahma during the celestial churning of the ocean of milk, alongside all other living beings. Bestowed upon the sage Vashishta as a divine cow, she possesses the extraordinary ability to fulfill any wish, making her a symbol of fertility, wealth, and prosperity.
In this artwork, Kaamdhenu is depicted with the lower body of a cow, the upper body of a female, and the graceful wings of a bird, exuding a divine presence. She represents the ultimate source of sustenance and abundance. Surrounding her are various gods and goddesses, including Varaha, the boar incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who reverently fold their hands in homage. In Hindu mythology, Kaamdhenu is venerated as a symbol of motherhood, purity, and boundless blessings.
