About the Artwork +
Sanjay Chitara portrays a captivating masterpiece that honours three revered goddesses—Bahuchar Mata, Visat Mata, and Durga Mata—each representing unique facets of spirituality and cultural significance. The painting opens with Bahuchar Mata, a divine Hindu deity deeply venerated by women seeking fertility and men facing challenges with procreation. In this artwork, she is portrayed with grace and elegance, riding a rooster, which serves as her vehicle. The rooster symbolises the break of dawn and the awakening of life. Visat Mata is a goddess deeply rooted in the spiritual traditions of Gujarat. Her presence exudes an aura of grace and divinity. In this portrayal, she is depicted standing serenely atop a regal elephant, symbolising her role as a guardian and protector of those who embark on journeys. Her benevolent gaze extends to travellers, offering them safe passage and guidance. At the heart of the painting stands the formidable figure of Durga Mata, the Adi Shakti, or Supreme Power in Hinduism. Her multi-armed form carries a variety of weapons and sacred objects, signifying her readiness to confront and vanquish the forces of darkness. Sanjay Chitara's intricate brushwork and vivid colours capture the essence of her awe-inspiring presence, evoking a sense of devotion and respect. The artwork offers a visual delight and also serves as a profound reflection of the cultural heritage and spiritual traditions of Gujarat, where the worship of these goddesses continues to inspire and unite communities.
