Raja Ravi Varma's oleograph depicting Shesh Narayan with his consorts Shri Devi and Bhu Devi presents a scene of divine splendor and symbolic richness. At the heart of the composition, Vishnu, the preserver in Hindu mythology, is depicted alongside his consorts, Shri Devi (Lakshmi) and Bhu Devi (Earth). They are seated graciously on the coiled body of Shesh Naag, the multi-headed serpent deity who serves as Vishnu's divine canopy.
The entire composition is dominated by the majestic form of Shesh Naag, whose expansive coils stretch across the artwork, creating a protective canopy over Vishnu and his consorts. Shesh Naag's presence symbolizes eternity, timelessness, and the cosmic support upon which Vishnu rests, highlighting his role as the sustainer and protector of the universe. Vishnu is depicted with serene composure, often adorned with royal attire and divine ornaments that signify his divine status. Shri Devi, on his right, radiates grace and abundance, symbolizing wealth, prosperity, and auspiciousness. Bhu Devi, on his left, embodies the nurturing and fertile aspects of the Earth, symbolizing sustenance, fertility, and natural bounty.

Varma's artistic style in this oleograph blends realism with a sense of divine presence, capturing the ethereal beauty and spiritual essence of Vishnu and his consorts. The choice of colors, intricate detailing of attire and jewelry, and the overall composition convey a sense of grandeur and reverence associated with the divine trio. This is a limited edition capsule collection of original oleographs/ chromo lithographs from the 1920's and 1930's created at the original Raja Ravi Verma Printing Press. This collection of paintings was originally made by Raja Ravi Verma and artists like CS Ramanujam. The oleographs are embellished with original delicate Japanese paper silk and Zari work in real gold and silver which was done by artists in the same period. These oleopgraphs were created in limited numbers and thus each artwork is limited to only 1 in availability with us. Varma used oleographs on paper, a type of lithography that uses oil paints on paper to make his work available to the masses. He eventually sold the press to one of the Germans. The stone-printing procedure allows exact brushstrokes and patterns to be replicated on a large scale with multitudes of tones and diverse colour palette. The artist signature is on each of the artworks and each artwork will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from MeMeraki.

Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide an authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist.

Made To Order artworks will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped once they are ready. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.
