The Watchful Leopards in Gond by Dhneshwar Dhurwey

This intricate Gond composition by artist Dhneshwar Dhurwey presents a masterful study of balance within the sacred forest. Originating in the tribal Gond community, which lives in close communion with nature, these paintings portray a strong belief that every aspect of nature is animate and sacred. The artist explores the silent, watchful presence of predators within a life-sustaining ecosystem.

The painting is anchored by a central, winding tree trunk, characterized by bold, alternating bands of black and white. This striped motif creates a sense of upward movement, leading to a flourishing canopy of leaf clusters. Each cluster is meticulously rendered with fine, radial lines. Perched throughout the branches are several blue and red birds, their vibrant primary colors providing a sharp, lively contrast to the monochromatic tree.

Strategically positioned are two leopards, their bodies partially obscured as they peer out from behind the tree. The tigers are rendered in warm ochre and golden tones, their fur composed of a dense pattern. One leoprd gazes out from the mid-section of the tree, while the other crouches lower toward the base, their wide, expressive eyes suggesting a state of calm observation rather than immediate aggression.

At the base of the tree, two additional birds ground the composition, looking upward toward the activity above. The use of a stark white background focuses all attention on the intricate relationships between the hunters, the feathered inhabitants and the sheltering tree. This painting proudly depicts Dhneshwar Ji's signature patterns, inspired by the custard apple, the leaves of the Saja tree and mustard seeds.

No, we currently sell artworks unframed (unless explicitly mentioned otherwise) and do not provide framing services.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹1999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹499 applies to orders below ₹1999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.

This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.
